Ryerson Design Fabrication Zone is envisioned as a provocative hub for emerging designers (students and graduates) that allows for incubation of projects demonstrating potential for design/fabrication, innovation and entrepreneurship in built environments. The DFZ is a joint venture between the School of Interior Design and the Department of Architectural Science. The DFZ strategically propels design learning and 3D production towards construction and/or business innovation.

The zone fosters rich networking opportunities for student-driven initiatives through mentorship, workshops, strategic partnerships and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The DFZ offers access to traditional and digital fabrication technologies (rapid prototyping, CNC and CAD/CAM), enabling members to prototype and model ideas in order to test, evaluate and realize design concepts.
