Congratulations to RSID students Alice Yu-Chen Chien & Amy Li in winning the Yabu Pushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design! The Award, administered by Ryerson's Design Fabrication Zone, will provide Alice & Amy with $6,000 to take their proposal from ideation to the prototyping stage. Their project goal is to develop a material system which utilizes kerf cutting. Digital models will be used to supplement the material testing. The developed material system will then be applied spatially to transform and manipulate spatial atmosphere. The applications were evaluated and scored by a jury based on the following criteria: proposed interior design innovation/entrepreneurship, clarity of ideas developed, compelling new research, creative and/or prototyping direction, and overall presentation.

The award is intended to fund innovation and entrepreneurship in Interior Design by supporting a Ryerson Interior Design student to pursue his or her own area of interest and specialty, and support new ways of thinking about interior design innovation. Discover more at the Design Fabrication Zone.
